BackBox Automation Platform Improves Network Security and Performance for MSPs and MSSPs

BackBox launched the BackBox automation platform. This latest release adds cloud-based SaaS capabilities to a platform with a largely on-premises footprint and includes new features that improve user experience, accelerate time to value, and provide insights into usage performance and automation.

BackBox’s version of the product offers scalability and integration for Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs), as well as enterprise customers. The release extends network inventory capabilities and adds cloud-based telemetry reporting based on system performance and inventory data in an easy-to-use executive dashboard.

“Organizations around the world trust BackBox’s network automation solutions, including some of the world’s largest MSPs and MSSPs,” said Andrew Kahl, CEO of BackBox.

“We aim to change the way network automation tools are used to improve network security, performance and compliance. While many enterprise customers need an on-premises solution for network automation, especially when managing secure, closed, and OT networks, many other customers need a distributed approach to best manage their multi-cloud environments. This was especially evident when we partnered with our MSP, MSSP and cloud-first customers. With this release of the product, we can better support our on-premises customers and deliver new functionality to customers managing hybrid environments,” Kahl said.

The hybrid SaaS model of the BackBox platform enables new features like the executive dashboard. Analytics on inventory and automation performance help customers quantify the business impact of network automation and inform their automation strategies. The dashboard will help MSP/MSSP customers and partners better validate and justify their work while identifying common and recurring issues and strategies to overcome them.

“This latest release and the next releases we have planned for later this year are focused on enhancing the product’s capabilities for MSPs and enterprise customers needing to automate network security posture improvements,” said Craig McDonald, product manager at BackBox.

“We also continue to enhance our product capabilities around network inventory and cyber asset attack surface management (CAASM), as these are key areas of interest for our customers. This latest release advances our capabilities in these areas and positions us for rapid expansion of these capabilities throughout the year and beyond,” McDonald continued.

“One new feature that we are particularly proud of is an entirely new provisioning tool for MSPs. We have worked with some of our largest MSP/MSSP customers to develop a new tool to speed up their deployment and integration of customer firewalls and other network infrastructure equipment. This latest version of our automation platform includes several key features needed to connect the platform to the provisioning tool the way our customers want to use them. said McDonald.

With each new release, BackBox adds support for new network devices. The platform currently supports different types of physical and virtual devices from over 180 different vendors, including Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, f5, Juniper Networks, and Check Point.
