Boxx Insurance Acquires Network Security Threat Intelligence Startup Templarbit

Boxx Insurance, a cyber insurance and security services company, has purchased cyber threat intelligence platform provider Templarbit for an undisclosed amount.

This is technology merger and acquisition deal number 947 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2022.

Boxx, founded in 2018, is based in Toronto, Canada. The company has 28 employees listed on LinkedIn. Splunk’s areas of expertise include cyber insurance, breach protection, and data security.

Templarbit, founded in 2017, is based in San Francisco, California. The company has three employees registered on LinkedIn. Templarbit’s areas of expertise include attack surface and vulnerability management.

Boxx prioritizes “proactive cyber risk protection”

Templarbit supports Boxx’s mission to make the world “a digitally safer place”, the companies said. It provides Boxx customers with access to a platform that identifies network vulnerabilities, discovers, categorizes and analyzes digital assets and provides a risk profile for each digital asset and the actual business costs that would be incurred if a digital asset were compromise.

Furthermore, the acquisition of Templarbit represents “a natural next step” for Boxx, said Vishal Kundi, CEO of the company. It highlights Boxx’s focus on proactive cyber risk protection and its commitment to growing its business.

Boxx launches vCISO service and hires cybersecurity leader

The acquisition of Templarbit comes after Boxx launched its virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO) service in April 2022 to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) guard against cyber failures.

Boxx’s vCISO service is an “all-in-one solution” that combines managed cybersecurity, cyber insurance and consulting services, the company said. It is also supported by cybersecurity experts and risk management professionals.

Alongside the launch of its vCISO service, Boxx in April 2022 hired Jack Brooks to lead its Hackbusters security operations team. Prior to joining Boxx, Brooks held leadership positions at MSSP Jolera and other cybersecurity companies.

Boxx offers breach response, identity restoration, managed firewalls and monitoring, and other cybersecurity services. It also provides a partner program that allows MSSPs and MSPs to integrate its services into their portfolios.
