Why is PSN down today on PS4 and PS5?
Sony has confirmed that a technical issue is currently affecting the PlayStation Network and that players using the PlayStation website, consoles or handheld devices will have difficulty using basic functionality. The PlayStation Network Server Status site lists these issues as affecting PSN performance tonight:
Signing in – You may have trouble signing in or creating an account for PlayStation Network. We are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.
Game Streaming – You might have trouble launching games, apps, or network features. We are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.
PlayStation Store – You may have difficulty obtaining products from the PlayStation Store. We are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.
Affected Devices currently only lists PS4 and PS5 consoles for some of these services, but chances are other platforms will run slower due to server load.
No ETA was provided for the return of PSN services to normal or the return of online game streaming in the UK or North America.
Thousands of reports are shared today regarding the current outage, but it’s worth noting that the numbers are still quite low, meaning this is unlikely to be a major global outage.
More news and updates are expected to be shared by Sony if the current PlayStation Network issues continue past 9pm BST.
